How do young people in Europe and Turkey experience the current times of Brexit, Trump and Turkish constitutional referendum? What are their hopes and fears for the future? The ROOTS & ROUTES Experience 2017 invited young artists from 10 countries to discuss and connect their ideas and thoughts and to turn them into art.
RRXP17 won a young.europe.award at Jugendkulturpreis NRW 2018.
Perspectives from Germany, Romania, Spain, Greece, Lithuania, France, Italy, Turkey, the UK and the Netherlands got into dialogue. The project connected music, dance, media, acting and poetry into a transdisciplinary performance giving a glimpse of possible futures. A professional team of coaches headed by well-known artistic director and choreographer Youngung Sebastian Kim a.k.a. Jaekwon guides the young artists through the process.
On August 29th and 30th, results were performed live at Alte Feuerwache Cologne.
