Based on Michel Foucault’s concept of “heterotopias” – spaces that are different, that reflect, question or break with social norms – the participants developed their own artistic works.
This resulted in performances, audiovisual works and interdisciplinary experiments that dealt with urban and rural living spaces as well as personal experiences.
The encounter was hosted by Greek partner Synergy of Music Theatre (SMouTh) in Larissa and organized by ROOTS & ROUTES Cologne e. V. in cooperation with Visual Voices (Cyprus) and KITKC (Lithuania). Work took place at the SYNERGEIO Culture Space in the city center and in other rehearsal rooms.
In addition to the artistic process, the focus was also on intercultural learning, cooking together, and shared experiences. The presentations of the resulting works were the crowning finale of an intensive, inspiring, and connecting week.
International youth exchange held in Larissa, Greece. Six young artists each from Germany, Greece, Cyprus, and Lithuania came together to explore and interpret the concept of heterotopia through art.
