(IN)SOMNIA – What happens when we close our eyes? (INSOMNIA23) is an international youth exchange project bringing together 40 young artists from France, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Turkey and Germany on the North Sea island of Baltrum.
This international encounter project on the North Sea island of Baltrum focused on the topic of sleep - what happens the moment we close our eyes? What do we see? What do we not see? What do we dream about? What do we let happen and at what cost? Who is actually in control?

Over the course of 14 days, various artistic projects were developed from the meeting of individual artistic disciplines. Media art, short films, documentaries, music videos, audio recordings and photographs were created in small groups and developed with ideas and thoughts, concerns and wishes of all participants from thematic exchange.

The resulting works was presented on November 20 in the intersektionale JugendLabore im Veedel room (iJuLa) in Cologne-Zollstock.

INSOMNIA – What happens when we close our eyes? (#INSOMNIA23) is a ROOTS & ROUTES Cologne e. V. project in cooperation with: KITKC Kaunas/Lithuania, Empreinte Lille/France, Synergy of Music Theatre Larissa/Greece, Centro di Creazione e Cultura Florence/Italy and Blues Derneği Istanbul/Turkey.
